Horse Helpers of the High Country invites High Country community members to join us for the 8th annual silent and live auction: Eat. Drink. Bid 2017 on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit abused, abandoned, neglected horses in need.

The event will take place at the newest premier event facility in the High Country - Whispering Waters Farm, 274 Shulls Mill Road, Boone, NC. Steeped in history, Whispering Waters Farm is formerly the site of the Shulls Mills General Store and is surrounded by the pristine waters of the Watauga River with a stunning full view of majestic Grandfather Mountain. The old horse barn has been completely transformed yet maintains the historic character and old world charm and is the perfect site for a fundraiser for horses.

The event will feature live music by classical guitarist James West, wine, beer, and heavy hors d’oeuvres by Red Moon Catering. For the first time, attendees will have the chance to meet some of the actual rescued horses and see the quiet “thank you” in the sparkle in the eyes of these gentle creatures!

“We are thankful we have been able to help so many horses over the past year. However, it has been a particularly tough year in terms of the number of horses that have needed our help and the resources required to rehabilitate and compassionately care for them. We can’t do this alone. Eat. Drink. Bid is a night of fun and also our most important fundraiser,” said Director, Amy Hudnall. “We need the loving support of the greater High Country community to provide heart, hands, and funds to help these noble animals.”
The live and silent auctions will include wonderful items such as a beautiful painting by Raleigh artist Susan Dahlin, a beach-front condo for a week at Myrtle Beach, tickets to the Barter Theater, an expertly restored carousel horse and stand, a pair of vintage jousting horse and riders by Zacagnini of Italy, and much more.

Tickets are $75 in advance or $90 at the door. For more information and to purchase tickets please see or email
