Isadorables Creative Movement Workshop

Wednesday, September 18, 2019 - 2:30pm - 3:30pm

Blowing Rock Art & History Museum
159 GINNY STEVENS LN # 828 Blowing Rock Art & History Museum

Isadora Duncan is known as the “Mother of Modern Dance” and her dance students were known as the “Isadorables.” Isadora believed that dance should be natural and derived from the simplest of human movements- walking, running, skipping, jumping, and standing. She was inspired by ancient Greek artwork. Her dance movements were almost childlike in their freedom, and these ideas lend themselves naturally to creative movement and free expression through dance.

In this children’s workshop, we will explore different locomotor movements inspired by Isadora Duncan’s teachings. We will also explore shapes found in nature, and create dances based on nature and the harmonious aspects between the natural world and movement. We will also briefly examine Greek art and imagine the connection between the art of the ancient Greeks and how our bodies can move. We will stretch, explore, listen, examine, and create through movement!

This workshop is designed for children ages 5-10. Cost is $5 for BRAHM members and $8 for nonmembers.

Presented to the community by Wells Fargo.
